PetLinx enables you to send your customers emails and SMS messages as configured in the Messaging Center and the Extract and Mailout tab in the Reporting Center. The message templates that form the content of the email / SMS are created in the Email Template Editor and SMS Template Editor respectively.
To create a new template, open either the Email Template Editor or SMS Template Editor and choose New in the ribbon. You will be asked for the type of template to create, it is important to choose the correct type here as it contols where you template is used. For example if creating a template to advise customers of a change in business hours, choose a “Customer” template type. To create a template for sending groom booking reminders, choose a “Grooming Booking” template type. Choose OK to select the template type and begin your template.
The ribbon options available in the Email Template Editor should be familiar if you have used word processiong software such as Microsoft Word before. You can change fonts and colors, add bulleted lists, and insert pictures and hyperlinks, everything you need to create a professional looking email. The SMS Template Editor does not have these options as SMS messages consist of text only.
You can use data from your PetLinx database in the templates, for example to include the pet’s name or a booking date. Choosing Mail Merge – Insert Merge Field will display a list of the fields available for the template type selected, which you can insert into any part of your template.
When you have finished your template, be sure to save it by clicking the Save As button in the ribbon (if you have chosen the “Files stored on disk” System Option, a good place to save your letters is the c:\program files (x86)\petlinx4\letters folder).
We have created sample templates for each template type which you’ll see when choosing the Open ribbon option.
